SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio
Spurs today announced that they have signed guard
Brent Barry. Per team policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Barry was traded to Seattle, along with Francisco Elson and a 2009 first round draft pick, in exchange for
Kurt Thomas on February 20. He was then waived by the SuperSonics on February 21. Barry appeared in 29 games for the
Spurs this season and averaged 7.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 18.7 minutes.
Barry originally signed with the
Spurs as a free agent on 7/15/04. In four seasons with San Antonio he averaged 7.3 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 259 games. He currently stands fifth on San Antonio’s all-time list in three-pointers made (with 354).
Over his 13-year NBA career, Barry has averaged 9.7 points and 3.3 assists in 854 games. He has also played for the Clippers, the Heat, the Bulls, and the Sonics. The former Oregon State Beaver led the NBA in three-point field goal percentage during the 2000–01 season with a .476 (109-229) mark. During the 1995-96 season, Barry was named to the All-Rookie Second Team and won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest which was held at the Alamodome.
